The Church stands on the junction of Manor
Road, Bexley High Street and North Cray Road.
Some parts of the church date back to c.1100
and it was the main church for the Manor of
Bexley.
The restored medieval lych-gate, which now
stands towards the western entrance to the
churchyard, originally stood at the main entrance
until the late 19th century when it was removed
upon construction of the present gateway facing
North Cray Road.
Unfortunately its basal timbers there rotted
until in 1983 it was dismantled, repaired
and re-erected, with the aid of a Council
Heritage Fund grant, where it now stands.
