Blackfen Library in Cedar Avenue. 1937 at long last brought a permanent library to Blackfen and it opened on 4th March with Miss Baddock as librarian.

During the war years the library was sandbagged to help withstand the anticipated bomb blasts. Old and discarded library books were sandwiched between the sandbags and the walls.
