Crayford played a prominent part
in the involvement of Vickers with aircraft
production.
Probably the best-known aircraft made at
Crayford was the Vickers Vimy. One became famous
as the machine in which Captain John Alcock and
Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown made the first
flight across the Atlantic in 1919.
