Ideal Homesteads Ltd, 1933

The first image is the front cover of a brochure
advertising houses on the Montrose Park Estate
in Sidcup, which was bounded by Hurst Road,
Canterbury Avenue and Foots Cray Lane.
Interestingly, the company, New Ideal Homesteads,
made much of the fact that the houses were
'designed by a woman for a woman', although
in the brochure no mention is made of who
these women were.
The lower image shows specifications for an
'A' type house on the estate.
This was a 'middle-range' house at £695,
with prices rising to £825 for a 'D'
type house.
