In 1947 Crayford Urban District Council (UDC) received clearance from the Ministry of Housing to build houses on a number of existing roads, one of which was Willow Road.

By 1950 a house building programme comprising over 25 housing schemes had been prepared by Crayford UDC.

Of these ten schemes comprising over 1050 dwellings were to be built in Slade Green and between 1950-51 work started on Schemes 21, 22, 24 and 26.
