hutments at East Wickham, part of a large
estate of so-called 'temporary housing' built
to cater for the huge influx of workers to
the Royal Arsenal at the beginning of World
War I.
The estate had its own cinema/theatre and
some of the 'houses' survived until the 1950s. |
