This view of Hook Lane from the south side of Rochester Way was taken in 1951 as part of a photographic survey of the borough.

Many of the houses in the lane were built by the firm of F.R.Absalom, who incurred the frequent displeasure of the Council's Planning Committee for his cavalier attitude to building regulations.
