Developed
following the break up of the Beckenham Lodge
Estate in the 1880s these houses were typical
of the second phase of Beckenham's development.
Smaller than earlier houses around the Junction
station but still substantial, they were popular
with professionals such as solicitors and
doctors, although some were lived in by people
with private incomes.
Mostly divided into flats in the 1950s a few
have been replaced with modern blocks, but
most survive.
