Colindale,
114 Jail Lane,
Biggin Hill, Bromley, 1967

It was not until the 1950s that house numbers started to replace house names as the primary means of identification. Some of the house names reflect the pioneering nature of the first developers. |
|
The
first phase of Biggin Hill's
development took place in
the early 1920s, when the
Aperfield Court Estate was
sold off in £10
building plots. These were
built on in individual styles,
often using light and flimsy
materials.
By the second
part of the 20th century
many had fallen into disrepair
and were bought, demolished
and rebuilt by developers. |
