Oakley Road, Bromley Common,
c. 1910

|
|
The
southern end of Bromley Common was the limit
of suburban development along the Hastings
Road in the 19th century.
This view shows a mixture of new development,
the Two Doves pub (1870) to the left of the
traditional Kentish country cottages, and
Skinner's bootmakers, successors to Jackson's
from around the same time, on its right.
