Gordon Arms, Green Lane, Chislehurst, 1984

Gordon Arms, Green Lane, Chislehurst, 1984

Mock Tudor is an unusual style in this part of Chislehurst where more formal brick or thirties pebbledash styles predominate.

The building would look more at home in Petts Wood.

Established before 1869 in Chapel Lane, later Park Road, the Gordon Arms was run by the Crowe family from 1885.

Eugenie Crowe was still landlady in 1936 when the pub was demolished to allow the corner of Green Lane and Park Road to be widened.

The result was this contemporary building a few yards from the original, opened by Courage and Co, in the same year with Mrs Crowe still in charge.
