The Chestnuts, St Paul's Cray Road, Cray Valley, c. 1900

The Chestnuts, St Paul's Cray Road, Cray Valley, c. 1900

Dating from the 1870s, when this area to the east of Royal Parade began to be developed, "The Chestnuts" was one of a number of similar large houses on the road to St. Paul's Cray.

In 1881 it was the home of William Winter, a solicitor.

It was replaced with flats in the mid 1950s, although part of the original building was incorporated into the design.
