Police Station, St Mary Cray, c. 1980

Police Station, St Mary Cray, c. 1980

Built in 1896, in typical Metropolitan Police style, it closed when the large station at the Walnuts in Orpington opened about 1980.

Protests about the lack of a Police presence in the village resulted in a new station opening in a shop in 1992 but this too was closed in 2000.

Having had a variety of inst-itutional uses, the building is now to be converted into flats.
