"Navvies" at Crystal
Palace, 1853

Copyright: Kenneth Talbot
The work was physically strenuous and resulted in many serious injuries and deaths. |
|
Most of the building work on
the Crystal Palace was done by Navvies, groups
of building workers who travelled the country,
originally constructing canals but later railways.
