Farnborough is part suburban (mainly mid- and late-20th century) and part rural. The heart of the village is centered on the High Street (by-passed in 1927) and Church Road.

The only systematic Victorian housing development is the grid of streets on and branching from Gladstone Road. All have similarly political names.
