Farnborough is part suburban, a roughly equal mix of pre and post- war estates, and part rural, the latter protected by green belt status.

Only a very small part is Victorian or earlier. Buildings of this date are on the High Street, previously part of the main road to Hastings, but by-passed in 1927.
