Built in 1876, its main claim to fame is that it was the final home of the cricketer W. G. Grace, who lived here from 1909 to 1915.

A blue plaque is visible above the front door.

Prior to that occupiers had included an East Indiaman, a policeman and a pub landlord.

It is now a retirement home.
