Part of the major development of the Anerley Estate beginning in 1851, this is typical of the larger houses built in Penge around the time of the arrival of the Crystal Palace.

Some redevelopment of the area took place prior to the first World War but major changes only occurred after 1945 when many houses such as this were demolished following war damage.
