Birchwood Road, Petts Wood, c. 1935

Birchwood Road, Petts Wood, c. 1935

Birchwood Road includes some of the largest and most expensive properties in Petts Wood.

Many were built by W. H. Lowe, to designs much in sympathy with guidelines laid down by Basil Scruby, the area's developer.

Despite their size the juvenile gardens, winter trees and, paradoxically, lack of motorcars give the view a very bleak character.
