Manor Way, Petts Wood, c. 1938

Manor Way, Petts Wood, c. 1938

Manor Way is typical of many of east Petts Wood's roads generous semi-detached or detached houses, frequently mock -Tudor in style.

Basil Scruby developed and created the Petts Wood estate. He laid out the roads, arranged the provision of services and utilities and sold the plots to individual builders.

Even then the builders had to adhere to strict guidelines laid down by Scruby. Walter Reed and George Hoad, whose firm was closely associated with Basil Scruby, built these houses.
