Princes Avenue, Petts Wood, c. 1935

Princes Avenue, Petts Wood, c. 1935

This location was previously the site of one of Petts Wood's grandest Victorian mansions, Ladywood, which was demolished shortly before this development.

Princes Avenue, Petts Wood, was built in the early 1930s.

The houses were built by Noel Rees, Petts Wood's best-known builder. He was particularly noted for building in the mock-Tudor style, and these houses, in part, show that approach.

The view shows another characteristic of early Petts Wood: unmade roads.
