The number of visitors reached their peak at bank holidays when Londoners came to Greenwich to experience its many attractions: Greenwich Fair, the Park, the shops, tea houses and fine buildings.

Greenwich Pier was built in 1836 to accommodate the many paddle steamers which brought visitors to Greenwich.
