Raleigh
House, Brixton Hill, c. 1890

Raleigh Gardens commemorates the house.
This view shows the property prior to demolition and commencement of the housing development on Fairmont and Arodene Roads. |
|

Raleigh House was a large Georgian mansion
situated well back from the main road.
In 1887 Lambeth Vestry planned to buy the
site for development as a public park. However,
local opinion favoured the larger Brockwell
Hall site.
