Windmill, Brixton Hill, c. 1800

Windmill, Brixton Hill, c. 1800

The Brixton Windmill still stands and can be seen in Blenheim Gardens.

By 1862, the surrounding area had become too built-up for it to operate efficiently. It was used for storage for a short time and returned to milling from 1902 to 1934 with steam and then gas instead of wind.
