Holy Trinity Church, Clapham Common, 1809

Holy Trinity Church, Clapham Common, 1809
Watercolour by an unknown artist, engraved as Plate 69 in 'Ecclesiastical Topography round London', 1809

Holy Trinity Church, Clapham Common, was designed by the architect Mr Kenton Couse as the new parish church and was completed in 1776.

The ground was given by Mrs Penelope Pitt, a descendant of the Atkins family who had inherited the Manor.

The church became famous as the church of the Clapham Sect and memorial tablets outside the church commemorate their part in the abolition of slavery.
