The residence of the Thornton family, Clapham Common, South Side.

An evangelical philanthropist and member of the Clapham Sect, John Thornton and his family lived here until 1802.

This building and the one next door were bought and converted into the Notre Dame Convent school in 1851, and later cleared for the Notre Dame housing estate in 1945.
