Kennington Toll Gate can be seen in the centre middle-ground.

On the right is the road to Lambeth with the Horns Tavern on the corner, a popular 18th and 19th century meeting place.

This road follows the line of Roman Stone Street (now Kennington Park Road) as it leaves Southwark towards Clapham.

In the distance is St. Mark's Church, Kennington, which marks the site of the Kennington Gallows.
