Green Man Hotel, Blackheath Hill, Blackheath, c. 1850

Green Man Hotel, Blackheath Hill, Blackheath, c. 1850

The Green Man Hotel, which was proved to have existed in the 17th century, was an important staging post in the Dover Road - the business of which is evident. It stood at the very top of Blackheath Hill.

The building was also used as a meeting place for many official and unofficial bodies. It was later rebuilt in the 1860s and was demolished in the 1870s.
