The building of the railway in 1849 diverted the stream and ended this enterprise, and indirectly, stimulated further development that saw the site built on as Blackheath Grove. |

Hally's (horticultural) Nursery occupied a central site in Blackheath Village on the east side of Tranquil Vale.
The site has its origin as a private nursery of the Wricklemarsh Estate, but from 1795 to 1860 it was run as a commercial enterprise supplying plants and seeds to the developing village by successive members of the Hally family.
Hally also built a swimming pool, using the same water source - part of the Kid Brook- that was used for horticultural purposes.
