By
the 1890s the fields of Brockley in Deptford
had been covered by the middle class housing
of the Wickham Drake estate.
The fact that some of the residents were very
wealthy is indicated by the yellow colouring
of two streets on this map, designed to indicate
riches and poverty.
In Brockley in Lewisham, by this time beginning
to be called Crofton Park after the station,
development was only just starting.
