The tower in the back-ground of the painting is that of St. Mary's Church.

Slagrave Farm was purchased in 1894 by the Bermondsey Poor Law Union, who built a workhouse for the elderly poor on the site.

Part of this remains as Ladywell Lodge, the rest having been replaced by Dressington Avenue.
