Not
all of Lee's developments
were aimed at the middle
class commuters.
Many of
the streets north of the
east end of Lee High Road
comprised small terraced
houses which were developed
in the 1830s and 1840s.
Fludyer street, previously
Dacre Street, was typical.
The buntings
over the street suggest
only luke-warm patriotism
at the coronation, which
was only days away when
this photograph was taken..
