Old Tiger's Head, Lee Green,
c. 1890

The building shown here was replaced in 1896, by which time the rural sports had long vanished from the area. |
|
In the late 18th and 19th centuries
Lee Green was the centre for many popular
sports such as bowling, cricket, horse-racing
and prize-fighting.
These centred on the Tiger's Head public house,
built on this site in the 1750s.
