The Chestnuts, Parson Street, Lewisham, c. 1890

The Chestnuts, Parson Street, Lewisham, c. 1890

The Chestnuts was demolished in the 1960s as part of the development of the Sundermead Estate.

The Chestnuts was one of Lewisham's earliest large houses and one that, unusually, survived until the 20th century.

Once isolated from surrounding houses, by the mid-19th century it was encroached upon by small terraces on the south side of Loampit Vale.
