
The houses were demolished after being damaged in World War II, and the whole area was swept away when Molesworth Street was promoted as a by-pass for Lewisham High Street in the mid 1990s. |

These cottages were typical of the area between the High Street and the mills of the Ravenbourne.
Many of the streets: Avenue Square, Romer Place and Engate Street, were built in the first half of the 19th century when the mills on the river provided nearby employment. |
