Holly Lodge, Wisteria Road, Lewisham, c. 1910

Holly Lodge was occupied by the Bowditch family when this photograph was taken.

A block of flats replaced it in the 1960s.

The Lewisham Nursery, which at its height extended to 150 acres, closed in 1860 when the lease expired, and the owners decided that middle class housing would produce a larger income.

Eastdown Park was one of the estates that replaced the young trees and shrubs.

Holly Lodge, Wisteria Road, one of the larger houses, was built for himself in 1863 by George Walter Gorrum, one of the men engaged in the development of this estate.
