
By this time Lewisham was a respectable and mature suburb and this view is evidence of the High Street's commercial success.
The spire on the left is of the Congregational Church, the tower just left of the centre is St Mary's, and the water tower on the right serves the Ladywell Institution.

St Saviours Church was built in 1909 and its campanile, which dominates this part of the High Street, in 1929.
