New Cross Gate Station, New Cross, 1839

New Cross Gate Station, New Cross, 1839

New Cross Station (New Cross Gate after 1923) was built when the London and Croydon Railway arrived in 1839.

This view shows a train heading north towards London Bridge.

The perspective on the station entrance has been crudely distorted. The houses in the right background are on the Old Kent Road, but what appears to be a church spire in their midst is a mystery.
