Farnboro House, Kirkdale,
Sydenham, 1969
 |
|

Farnboro House in Kirkdale was built c.1840
and probably named in honour of the prominent
Lewisham resident, Lord Farnborough of Bromley
Hill, who died in 1838.
The house is typical of the attractive villas
that began to be built in large numbers on
the former Sydenham common area after the
opening of the station in 1836.
However, this example was never occupied by
a commuter, but by a series of doctors serving
the prosperous new population of the village.
It has now been largely extended at the back
for use as a medical centre.
