Milk Cart, Peckham, Southwark, c.1920

Dairies and, to a lesser extent, daily milk deliveries are a departing feature of the suburban scene.

Many of the dairymen of the early 20th century were Welsh, in particular from Cardiganshire. Their communities had as their focus the Welsh Presbyterian Churches on Southwark Bridge Road and Lewisham Way.
