These cottages on Lockyer Street, previously Evert Street, were typical of many built in Bermondsey in the early 19th century.

They date from before 1819.

New homes built by the Borough Council on Porlock Street can be seen in the background, and the body and spire of St.Paul's Church, Kipling Street, can be faintly made out behind them.
