Falmouth Road, Borough, Southwark, 1956

Falmouth Road, Borough, Southwark, 1956

These properties on Falmouth Road date from 1830.

These houses, demolished in the late 1950s, were the largest and most ornate on Falmouth Road.

This part of Falmouth Road was part of the Trinity Estates land owned by the Corporation of Trinity House, to which it was bequeathed by one of its members, Christopher Merrick in 1661.

Trinity House developed its land between 1820 and 1835. The development had Holy Trinity Church of 1824 (by Francis Bedford) and its equally impressive surrounding square as its centrepiece, housing on surrounding streets was of a lower standard.
