Green Dragon Court, Borough, c. 1930

Green Dragon Court, Borough, c. 1930

Green Dragon Court connects Borough High Street with Borough Market.

The latter dates from the mid 18th century and is a successor to the mediaeval market.

The seemingly ancient shopfront is a fraud, being a 17th century Dutch shop-front design that was added to the building in 1923.

Green Dragon Court takes its name from a house of that name. The 'To Let' sign is indicative of the City's long involvement in South-wark's affairs.
