Cleve Hall Estate, Champion Hill, Camberwell, 1952

After World War II Camberwell Borough Council undertook the job of providing council houses with gusto.

They were limited by available sites but obtained land on Denmark Hill after some of its grander mansions were no longer viable.

Cleve Hall at the west end of Champion Hill was one such house.

The estate was developed from 1952 to 1956 and provided 171 homes.
