Dulwich College Chapel and Picture Gallery, Dulwich, Southwark, c.1890

Dulwich College Chapel and Picture Gallery, Dulwich, Southwark, c.1890

The original Dulwich College, founded and endowed by Edward Alleyn in the early 17th century occupied the buildings at the junction of Gallery and College Roads, now used by the estate governors as offices.

The estate governors' conservative, sensitive and cautious management of the estate has done much to retain its semi-rural landscape. This building, which originally housed a chapel, school and almshouse, has undergone many changes of function and alterations over the centuries.
