Grove Vale Estate, East Dulwich, 1903

The Grove Vale Estate was built by the Camberwell Borough Council between 1903 and 1905, and is an unusually early example of municipal building.

The site had previously been used for agriculture.

Seven houses and one hundred and seventy four flats were built.

This view shows Oxenford Street in the foreground and Everthorpe Road to the right. The church of St.John the Evangalist, Goose Green, is seen in the background.

The plan shows the layout of two of the one hundred and seventy four self-contained flats (with detail below).
