Trafalgar Avenue, Peckham, c. 1972

Trafalgar Avenue, Peckham, c. 1972

This area of Peckham, close to the Old Kent Road, was developed from the 1840s.

These two terraces of the early 1850s show a classical restraint. The style reflects Georgian town houses of 30 years earlier.

In the 1850s this part of north Peckham was developing as a handsome, middle-class suburb.
