Jamaica Road, Rotherhithe, c. 1910

Jamaica Road, Rotherhithe, c. 1910

In the middle distance is the congregational church and in the far distance Christ Church.

This view is looking towards the north side of Jamaica Road at the terrace of houses bounded by the Crescent of Martin Street.

The busy scene shows numerous forms of transport (and their detritus). The tram line was built in 1879 to 1880 and electrified in 1910.

These houses were demolished for the widening and realignment of Jamaica Road in the 1960s.
