Villa Street, Walworth, c. 1907

Villa Street, Walworth, c. 1907

They were built in the 1870s. Despite their obvious quality the houses were demolished for the building of the Aylesbury Estate.

Villa Street is at the heart of residential Walworth, between Old Kent Road and Walworth Road.

These houses were on the Yates estates. Edward Yates was a prolific builder in Walworth and in Nunhead, who financed each stage of his developments from the income of the previous ones.
