Developed from the 1880s on the site of College field, part of the former glebe lands of the Bishop of Rochester, this house was originally No.32 and was part of the considerable growth that followed the opening of the South Eastern Railway station (now North) in 1878.

In 1891 No.32 was the home of a teacher. Other inhabitants of the road include shop keepers and office workers.
